Fundraise for A-LAW
Help us make the law work for animals.
By fundraising for A-LAW, you can support our vital work to improve animal protection through the law. As a largely volunteer-led charity, every donation helps us maximise our impact and advance animals’ interests where it matters most.

Fundraising ideas

Vegan bake sale
Organise a vegan bake sale at your university, workplace, or local community venue. You could theme it around a holiday, awareness day, or simply provide a welcome treat during the working week. It’s a fun and accessible way to raise funds while promoting animal-friendly choices.

Marathon or 5K run
Take on a challenge and raise funds for animals at the same time. Whether you’re training for a marathon or prefer a sponsored 5K run, every step can help support our work. In 2022, one of our trustees completed a marathon and raised valuable funds for A-LAW. If a marathon feels ambitious, a shorter sponsored run is a great place to start.

Sponsored dog walk
Combine fundraising with fresh air and exercise by organising a sponsored dog walk. Invite friends, family, colleagues, and their canine companions to join you and raise money for a cause that benefits animals. It’s a great way to bring together your local dog-loving community while supporting our work.
Other ways to support A-LAW
Advertising
We offer advertising opportunities in The UK Journal of Animal Law, subject to our ethics policy. These opportunities may be of particular interest to universities, training providers, and organisations working in related fields.
Corporate sponsorship
We welcome corporate sponsorship for a range of initiatives, including student prizes, events such as the UK Animal Law Conference, and our Talking Animal Law podcast.
To discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact us at info@alaw.org.uk.
Employer matched giving
Many employers operate matched giving schemes, where they match funds raised through sponsored events up to an agreed amount. If you’re planning a fundraising activity, it’s worth checking whether your employer offers this benefit.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you. This allows us to receive additional funding from HMRC on eligible donations.
Leave a legacy
By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help create lasting change for animals.
If you are considering leaving a legacy to support the UK Centre for Animal Law, the details your solicitor may require are:
Registered Name: UK Centre for Animal Law Limited
Charity Number: 1113462
Registered Office: UK Centre for Animal Law, c/o Emstrey House North, Shrewsbury Business Park, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 6LG
How we are funded
Our work is primarily funded through membership fees, donations, occasional grants, and other forms of kind support from individuals and organisations that share our commitment to improving animal protection through the law.
In 2016, we received grant funding from Lush to support our work with the Wildlife and Countryside Link Animal Welfare Strategy Group, helping to advance animal interests throughout the Brexit process. In 2021, Lush provided further funding that enabled us to access specialist trade expertise to support NGOs working to improve animal welfare through post-Brexit trade policy.
Between 2018 and 2021, we also received grant funding from Animal Charity Evaluators’ Movement Grants programme. This support enabled us to expand our student outreach activities and engage more students in critical discussions about animal law and policy.

How we use our funds
A-LAW is a volunteer-led charity. Our trustees, small staff team and volunteers dedicate significant time and expertise to delivering our charitable objectives.
We have one part-time employee and a contracted project manager who help provide essential administrative and secretariat support. As we do not maintain office premises, our overheads remain low, allowing us to direct the vast majority of our resources towards making the law work better for animals.
Why we need your support
Demand for stronger animal protection laws continues to grow, and so do the opportunities to make a meaningful difference.
We have ambitious plans for future projects, campaigns, education initiatives and policy work. Additional funding will help us expand our impact, develop new projects and cover the modest operational costs required to deliver our work effectively.
How you can help
There are many ways to support A-LAW, whether through fundraising, sponsorship, advertising, corporate partnerships, Gift Aid, or leaving a legacy gift.
Every contribution helps us continue working towards stronger legal protections for animals and a more compassionate future.
